Skoda will globally reveal a mid-life facelift for the Karoq compact SUV on November 30. Ahead of its unveiling, the carmaker has dropped a couple of design sketches of the updated Karoq, teasing the exterior design of the SUV. Skoda also says the facelifted Karoq will feature technology upgrades, although no details have been revealed on that front. The current model has been around since 2017, which means it’s just about time for a facelift.

  • Interiors will get more features and technology upgrades
  • Will be globally unveiled on November 30

Skoda Karoq facelift: what’s new?

The Skoda Karoq facelift will feature a much sharper styling, thanks to redesigned bumpers, headlamps and tail-lamps. While the overall design and silhouette remains similar, the difference is in the detail. Up front, the headlamps are sleeker than before and even feature an upward kink on the bottom part. The LED light signature has been revised and now comprises two separate elements. Skoda says the grille has also grown wider and features a new hexagonal shape with twin vertical slats, similar to the Kushaq.

The front bumper has been updated with a wider central air dam and also features new, sharp and edgy styling bits at both ends, adding some more drama to the front-end design. At the rear, the Karoq facelift will get newly designed LED tail-lamps, which are sleeker than before, along with new light signatures. The tail-lamps also retain Skoda’s signature crystalline pattern and C-shaped LED lights. Other updates to the rear include a longer rear spoiler and redesigned rear bumper with an apron and a black diffuser.

Skoda, however, hasn’t revealed any images of the Karoq facelift's interior. And while we do not expect any significant changes to its design or layout, Skoda has said that the Karoq facelift will get technology upgrades, which means more features and connectivity could be on the cards.

Skoda Karoq facelift: powertrain options

The Karoq facelift is expected to remain unchanged mechanically. Globally, the Karoq is offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including the 150hp, 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine that it was offered with here in India. In markets abroad, the Karoq is also offered with an optional 4x4 system.

Skoda Karoq facelift: will it come to India?

The pre-facelift Skoda Karoq was on sale in India till earlier this year. However, it was imported to our shores as a completely built unit (CBU) and was available in limited numbers under the 2,500-unit homologation rules. Having sold out the initial lot, Skoda then focused on the locally made Kushaq and is soon set to introduce its second India-focused model, the Slavia sedan, on November 18.

That said, the facelifted model could definitely be on the cards for India sometime in the future. Skoda India had previously said that they will consider local assembly of the Karoq in India, and that would significantly bring down the prices and also increase its availability.
