Skoda has begun work on a mid-cycle update for its Kodiaq SUV. While the original model went on sale globally nearly three years ago, the Kodiaq facelift has yet to be revealed officially.

The refreshed Kodiaq will get subtle styling tweaks and an interior technology upgrade that is similar to what was recently shown on the updated Superb, with the most obvious visual changes coming in the form of redesigned bumpers and lights; Skoda’s trademark grille design gets carried over from the outgoing model. New features for the 2020 Kodiaq are likely to include the matrix LED headlights already seen on the new Superb, along with advanced driver aids such as predictive cruise control.

Under the hood, Skoda may add a plug-in hybrid variant for the refreshed Kodiaq, just like the one on the Superb. It will also come with the updated 2.0-litre Evo diesel engine that offers improved fuel economy, courtesy of a high-efficiency crank, steel pistons and reduced friction throughout.

Closer to home, the Kodiaq comes with a 150hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine and is available in two variants. Though an India launch of the refreshed Kodiaq is still sometime away, Skoda will bring the Karoq SUV to the country soon and will also showcase the made-for-India Skoda Kamiq SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo.
