Skoda has launched the Rapid Onyx edition in the Indian market, priced from Rs 9.75 lakh. The special edition Rapid gets unique equipment like 16-inch “Clubber” alloy wheels, black wing mirrors, and a black finish on the grille, boot and side moulding. It also gets projector headlamps with black inserts and LED daytime running lamps. The car will be available in two exterior paint shades – blue and white.
On the inside, the Rapid Onyx edition gets light brown interiors with perforated beige seats and leatherette upholstery. The model also gets a standard touchscreen infotainment system with the Smartlink feature and a flat bottom steering wheel with black stitching. The cabin also features a rear sunshade and unique scuff plates with Onyx lettering.
The Rapid Onyx edition is available four engine-gearbox options. Prices start at Rs 9.75 lakh for the 1.6 petrol-manual variant, while the 1.6 petrol-automatic costs Rs 10.99 lakh. The Rapid Onyx diesel starts at Rs 11.58 lakh for the manual variant, while the diesel-automatic is priced at Rs 12.73 lakh.
The rapid is a rival to the likes of the Toyota Yaris, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento in the increasingly competitive mid-size sedan segment.
