Having showcased it in India for the first time at Auto Expo 2020 back in February, Skoda has now opened bookings for the Superb facelift. The booking amount for the updated Superb is set at Rs 50,000, and the price reveal and deliveries are expected to happen shortly after the nationwide lockdown is lifted.

The Superb facelift will be available in two variants – the luxury-oriented Laurin & Klement (L&K) and the spicier-looking Sportline. Buyers of the L&K will have five colour options to choose from – Lava Blue, Moon White, Business Grey, Magic Black and Magnetic Brown. Those keen on buying the Sportline in red – as was showcased at Auto Expo 2020 – will be a little disappointed, because there will only three colours to choose from – Race Blue, Moon White and Steel Grey.

As for changes, the updated Superb has gained a redesigned front bumper, new-look grille and added chrome trim between the LED tail-lights. Speaking of the Skoda Superb facelift's interior, it now gets a Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, an updated infotainment system and wireless smartphone charging.

The Superb Sportline distinguishes itself with a few subtle exterior touches in the form of a blacked-out grille, ORVMs, a contrast roof, and a different design for the alloy wheels. On the inside, the Superb Sportline gets an all-black theme, and contrast red trim to accentuate its sportier persona.

A BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine replaces the BS4 model’s 1.8 TSI petrol unit. The new engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of torque, which should bless the Superb facelift with sprightly performance. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic has been carried over from the pre-facelift car. In case you are wondering, there will be no diesel option for India, which is in line with Skoda’s plans to go petrol-only in the BS6 era. Yes, the Superb Sportline showcased at the Expo did have a diesel engine, but at launch, it, too, will only be available with the 2.0-litre TSI engine.

Expect the Skoda Superb facelift’s price in India to be slightly higher than that of the outgoing petrol model (Rs 25.99-30.99 lakh, ex-showroom).

Along with the Superb facelift, Skoda is also expected to reveal prices for the Karoq SUV and the Rapid 1.0 TSI soon after the lockdown lifts.
