Skoda Auto India has announced that it will increase prices across its range by about 2 to 3 percent. The increase in price will be effective as of January 1, 2018.
According to the Czech manufacturer, changing market conditions and various external economic factors are driving this price change. However, industry experts believe that the increase in prices has happened due to rising input costs.
Prices of essential materials such as steel, copper and aluminium have increased recently, leaving automakers with no other option than to increase prices. Auto companies like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra had earlier indicated a price hike of their cars as a part of their cyclical price revision. A revision of 1.5 to 3 percent is expected depending on the product.
Skoda, at present, offers four models in India – Rapid, Octavia, Superb and the Kodiaq SUV.
