SsangYong has debuted its ‘eXciting Authentic suV’ or XAV concept at the Seoul motor show 2015. The company claims that the SUV concept has been designed by combining tradition and latest trends. The concept also demonstrates the future direction of the company’s product development.
The XAV concept showcases an aggressive silhouette, with a high bumper, angular headlamps, large front and rear scuff-plate, large fog-lamps, black cladding along the flanks, sharp body creases and large prominent front and rear bumpers. On the sides, the SUV features frameless doors with blacked out B-pillars disappearing into the window-line. At the rear, the car features black cladding on the tailgate and the exhausts are melded into the rear scuff-plate.
On the inside, the XAV gets a scalable layout with a variety of configurations, depending on the number of passengers or the amount of luggage. The car features a pseudo-leather interior with aluminium accents on the steering, seats, dashboard and door cards. The concept also gets sports seats. The dashboard gets two LCD displays for the air-cons and infotainment system, and the instrument cluster is replaced by a LCD display.
The XAV concept runs on a hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.6-litre engine, sending power to the rear wheels, and an electric motor that powers the front wheels via the e-4WD system. The concept also gets air-suspension, run-flat tires and Smart Motion Control system that judges the road ahead and alters the car’s ride.
