The Tata Altroz Racer, slated for launch next month, was spotted fully undisguised on public roads for the first time. The Altroz Racer test mule featured a noteworthy visual change over the car showcased at the Bharat Global Mobility Expo in February.

Tata Altroz Racer spy shots: what’s new?
The prototype had the same dual-tone orange and black paint scheme as the vehicle displayed at the expo. However, it had diamond-cut alloy wheels, just like the standard Altroz. For the uninitiated, the Altroz Racer sported dark chrome/black alloy wheels when it debuted in February.
An earlier version revealed at the Auto Expo 2023 was equipped with the same alloy wheels as the regular hatch, albeit with a blacked-out finish. It remains to be what type of wheels will be finally offered. Other exterior changes will include twin racing stripes on the bonnet and the roof, ‘Racer’ badges and a slightly revised grille.
Tata Altroz Racer: specs, features, price
The Hyundai i20 N Line rival will have the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo. However, with 120hp and 170Nm of torque, its output will be 10hp and 30Nm higher than the iTurbo’s. The Altroz Racer will likely be offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Altroz Racer will be positioned as the flagship version of the premium hatch and will likely be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 12.52 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly rival the Hyundai i20 N Line while also face competition from the turbo variants of Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor.
