In order to provide buyers with enough information about the Tata Altroz, which will be launched at Auto Expo 2020, the carmaker has introduced the Tata Altroz Voice BoT. In essence, the Tata Altroz Voice BoT is a fun, marketing gimmick to create more buzz around the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz rival.
This service will work on any smartphone that has Google Assistant. It involves saying “Ok Google, talk to Tata Altroz.” You’re greeted by a computerised voice that answers questions about the size of the car (it told me the Altroz had a 345-litre boot) and the features that will be available. When I tested it, it told me, “I don’t like to toot my own horn, but since you asked, here it is.” The assistant then went to list out the Harman-sourced 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, premium interiors with blue ambient lighting and cruise control system.
The Tata Altroz Voice BoT, which responds to being called by the car’s name, can also book you a test drive and let you know when dealerships will be able to provide that service, making it more convenient to register.
The Voice BoT can also be accessed via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and will be standard on the top-spec Altoz XZ’s infotainment system.
