What powertrains are on offer with the Tata Curvv?

The Tata Curvv gets three engine options. The first two are the 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and an updated 118hp, 1.5-litre diesel from the Tata Nexon. The Curvv also debuts Tata's new 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine that makes 125hp and 225Nm of torque. All three engines come with a 6-speed manual as standard, along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic option.

Meanwhile, the Curvv EV gets two battery options: a 45kWh unit and a 55kWh unit. The 55kWh variants get a 167hp electric motor mounted on the front axle, while the 45kWh ones get a 150hp motor; both make 215Nm of torque. Tata claims a range an MIDC range of 502 km with the 45kWh battery, while the 55kWh pack offers 585 km on a single charge. A CNG version is also under consideration.

The added length also gives it 118 litres of extra boot space over the Nexon’s 382 litres.

Which cars, SUVs does the Tata Curvv rival?

The Tata Curvv’s most direct rival is the new Citroen Basalt. It also serves as an alternative to other midsize SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV rivals the MG ZS EV; there’s also some price overlap with the Mahindra XUV400 and Tata’s own Nexon EV.
