Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon facelift with comprehensive exterior and interior updates, but mechanically, it has remained largely unchanged except for the petrol engine receiving a couple of new gearboxes. The company has now revealed the ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of all the powertrain options.
The petrol variants will return a mileage ranging between 17.01-17.44kpl, depending on the gearbox, while the diesel variants have a claimed efficiency of 23.23kpl and 24.08kpl for the manual and AMT, respectively. Here’s a summary of the ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of all powertrains on offer.

Nexon petrol fuel efficiency compared with Brezza, Fronx
When it comes to fuel efficiency, Maruti Suzuki usually goes uncontested. Here we have taken Maruti’s two sub-compact offerings – the Brezza and the Fronx – for comparison against the new Nexon.

The Brezza comes with a larger, 103hp, 1.5-litre four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine as compared to the Nexon’s 120hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged unit. The Brezza’s manual version is marginally less efficient than the Nexon, but the former’s automatic is sufficiently more efficient than both of Nexon’s AMT- and DCT-equipped variants.
Meanwhile, the Fronx gets either a 90hp, 1.2-litre four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 100hp, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit. Both engines are down on power than the Nexon, but all powertrains are a lot more efficient than the Nexon with claimed efficiency upwards of 20kpl.
