Tata has launched the Punch EV with prices ranging between Rs 10.99 lakh-14.49 lakh. The carmaker had opened bookings earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

The EV gets two battery options and comes in five variants. Long range models get the option of a 7.2kW AC fast charger for a premium of Rs 50,000, while the Adventure, Empowered and Empowered+ variants on both models can be had with a sunroof for an additional Rs 50,000.
Tata Punch EV design and platform
Visually, the Tata Punch EV bears a resemblance to its sibling, the Nexon EV, and is the first Tata electric to get a frunk (front trunk). It also gets an LED light bar, a split headlamp setup and a new alloy wheel design.
This is the brand's first vehicle built on its new Gen 2 architecture called Acti.EV (pronounced ‘active’), which will also underpin a range of new Tata EVs and SUVs, including the upcoming Curvv EV, the new Sierra EV and the Harrier EV.
Tata Punch EV battery, range, powertrain and charging
The Tata Punch EV gets two battery options; a 25kWh battery with around 315km of MIDC range and a 35kWh battery with around 421km of MIDC range. Charging options include a 3.3kW wall box charger and a 7.2kW fast charger. The Punch EV also supports DC fast charging that takes it from 10-80 percent in 56mins using a 50kW fast charger.
The Long Range variants make 122hp and 190Nm that's sent to the front wheels, while the regular variants get an 82hp, 114Nm motor. According To Tata Motors, the Long Range variants can go for 0-100kph in under 9.5 seconds and the standard models take 13.5 seconds. The EV has a water wading capacity of 350mm and a ground clearance of 190mm.
Tata Punch EV interior and features and safety
The Tata Punch EV's interior is considerably more premium than its ICE counterpart with a new dashboard design, twin 10.25-inch screens for its infotainment and digital instrument display, and paddles on the steering wheel to control the regen levels. Lower variants of the EV are equipped with a smaller, 7-inch infotainment unit.

The Punch EV gets safety features such as six airbags, ABS and ESC, three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX mounts and more.
Tata Punch EV rivals
The Tata Punch EV rivals the MG Comet (Rs 7.98 lakh-9.98 lakh), Citroen eC3 (Rs 11.5 lakh-12.68 lakh) and Tata’s own Tiago EV (Rs 8.69 lakh-12.04 lakh).
