Tata recently opened the order books for the new Punch micro SUV along with revealing all the details about the variants, option packs and engine and gearbox combinations. While initially set to launch of October 20, Tata has now preponed the launch with the price announcement now to take place on October 18, 2021. While limited to a single petrol engine option, the Punch will be available in four trim levels along with customers also offered select option packs with each variant.

As mentioned above buyers will have four variants – or Personas as Tata calls them – to choose from – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. Here is a look at the features you will get in each variant:

Tata Punch: Optional connected car tech
While the Altroz gets Tata’s iRA connected car tech as standard on the fully loaded XZ+, the tech will be available as an option on the Punch Creative. Under iRA buyers will get access to a voice assistant capable of understand command s in English, Hindi and Hinglish along with a number of functions such as remote vehicle monitoring, live vehicle diagnostics, integrated maps for navigation with what3words functionality and security alerts including intrusion alert and remote immobilisation function.
Tata Punch: Engine and gearbox options
The Punch will be available with a sole 1.2-litre petrol engine option paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. The unit is good for 86hp and 113Nm of torque. The unit also comes with engine start-stop technology - on the manual variant only - in a bid to improve fuel efficiency. You can read about what the Punch is like to drive in our review.
Tata Punch: Rivals
The Tata Punch will go up against high-riding hatchbacks like the Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 in the market with higher variants also expected to see some competition from the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
