It was in late October that Tata launched its first performance-oriented models, the Tiago and Tigor JTPs. Now the brand has commenced deliveries for both cars have officially begun.
On Friday, December 21, Tata motors tweeted that the first of its JTP cars, a Tiago JTP was delivered to its new owner Zishan Khan in Mumbai. Other owners who have booked the cars should expect their cars to be in your hands soon.
Born out of Tata Motors’ joint venture with Jayem Automotives Pvt. Ltd, the JTP siblings are souped up versions of Tata’s Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan and as mentioned above the brand’s first performance-oriented production cars.
The siblings feature a myriad of changes including revised suspension and steering, a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor good for 114hp and a reworked 5-speed manual gearbox from the standard car for improved performance.
Tata claims the Tiago JTP is capable of doing the 0-100kph sprint in just 9.95sec, while the Tigor JTP takes 10.38sec to reach that mark. That time makes the Tiago JTP over 5sec quicker than it’s standard sibling that we’ve tested in the past. Both cars also get multi-drive modes – Sport for performance and City for efficiency.
Cosmetic changes include a sportier body kit, a functional hood vent, diamond cut alloy wheels and contrast finish to the roofs and wing mirrors. The cabin though is more or less unchanges from the standard model but with the addition of red inserts and stitching, a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and sportier looking aluminium pedals.
Tata has priced the Tiago JTP at Rs 6.39 lakh with its larger sibling, the Tigor JTP priced at Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
