In a move to strengthen the Tigor compact sedan’s line-up, Tata has introduced two new variants with automatic gearboxes. The two new variants are the XMA and XZA+ which are priced at Rs 6.39 lakh and 7.24 lakh, (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
The XMA trim-level gets all the equipment its manual counterpart gets including a Harman-tuned music system with Bluetooth connectivity, centre armrest in the rear seat, reverse parking sensors and driving modes to name a few. It also gets plenty of safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, cornering stability control, speed-dependent auto door-locking function and an engine immobiliser.
Like with the XMA, the XZA+ carries over the same equipment as the top-end manual XZ+ variant. The XZA+ gets additional features over the XMA variant which include a 7.0-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an eight-speaker Harman sound system, 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, auto-fold ORVMs with integrated LED turn indicators and dual-chamber projector headlamps.
Both the XMA and XZA+ only come with the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 85hp and 114Nm or torque. The automatic gearbox is an AMT unit which features anti-stall and crawl functions to improve the cars usability in the city.
Tata is also working on a Tigor facelift, expected to arrive before the end of this year. The carmaker will also phase out its smaller 1.05-litre diesel engines by the time the new BS6 norms come into effect on April 1, 2020.
