  1. All Tigor EV variants to get 315km range
  2. XT, XZ+ Lux variants to be introduced
  3. Official launch, price announcement tomorrow

Updated Tata Tigor EV: what's new?

First up, all variants will now come with 315km range, which is slightly up from the 306km for the existing model, thanks to software updates. Also, the updated Tigor EV will come with new features that were so far available only on the Nexon EV Max and the Nexon EV prime. The biggest addition is the multi-mode regen function with automatic brake lamp activation, which switches on the brake lights when regeneration is active. The Tigor EV will come with similar four-level regenerative braking as the Nexon EV Prime and Max, where Level 0 cuts off regeneration and at Level 3 it is at its strongest. This helps in recharging the batteries on the move, particularly in stop-go traffic or on down slopes, thus increasing effective driving range. Other additions to the Tigor EV include cruise control, an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system via the smartphone app, and smartwatch-integrated connectivity features.

For the Nexon EV, Tata motors had rolled out these new software-based features free of cost for existing owners as well, however, it remains to be seen if the brand plans to do the same for existing Tigor EV owners

Tata Tigor EV: new variants, more features

As far as equipment additions go, the Tigor EV XT variant will replace the existing Tigor EV XM and will come with additional features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen and steering-mounted controls. This variant is likely to be priced at Rs 12.99 lakh. The Tigor EV XZ+ will get cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamps and is likely to be priced at Rs 13.49 lakh. Additionally, a new top-spec variant, Tigor EV XZ+ Lux will be added to the line-up and will come with a contrast black roof, leatherette upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. This variant is likely to be priced at Rs 13.75 lakh.

Tata Tigor EV: battery and powertrain details

The updated Tigor EV continues with the same powertrain that was introduced last year. It gets Tata’s advanced Ziptron high-voltage architecture that uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor producing 75hp and 170Nm. These output figures allow for a 0 to 60kph time of 5.7sec (claimed).

The Tigor EV’s battery pack is a 26kWh Lithium-ion unit, which, along with the electric motor, has been rated to IP67 water and dust-proofing standards. The Tigor EV is capable of fast charging and can be topped up from 0 percent to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. To offer its customers peace of mind, Tata also provides an 8 year/1,60,000km warranty on the battery and motor.
