Tata to hike car and SUV prices by around Rs 60,000

Company cites rise in input costs as the key reason for the price increase

Tata Motors has announced that it will hike prices of its new cars and SUVs in India. Customers will have to pay an additional amount of upto Rs 60,000 – depending on model purchased – on and after April 1, 2018 when bought at any Tata showroom.

The company has stated that the rising input costs and market conditions, in addition to various external economic factors, are the main reasons for the carmaker to opt for a price increase.

Tata motors currently sells various passenger cars and SUV’s in India ranging across Nano, Tiago and Bolt hatchbacks, Tigor and Zest compact sedans, the Nexon compact SUV, the Safari Storme SUV and the Hexa crossover.

The carmaker recently unveiled three new concept vehicles like the H5X SUV, the 45X premium hatchback and the EVision sedan which was showcased at the 2018 Geneva motor show.
