Toyota is expected to bring out a facelifted version of the Etios sometime around the festive season this year. First launched in 2010,the entry-level sedan was last updated in 2014.
Spy shots of the Etios facelift reveal a new four-slat grille and restyled front bumper with new fog-lamp housings. The rear of the facelifted Etios is likely to feature a stylised bar running between the tail-lamps and a slightly tweaked bumper.
While the interior looks similar to that of the current sedan, the dashboard could get a digital instrument cluster, which was recently introduced in the South American-spec car. Besides this, there will be mild tweaks to the upholstery and the steering wheel as well.
The upcoming refresh for the Etios is likely to be purely cosmetic, with the mechanicals to be identical to that of the current car. This means it will continue to be offered with the option of a 90hp 1.5-litre petrol unit and 68hp 1.4-litre diesel engine, both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Toyota Etios rivals the likes of the Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and Chevrolet Sail.
