Toyota has launched the new Rumion MPV in India with prices starting from Rs 10.29 lakh for the base S variant, going up to Rs 13.68 lakh for the top-end V automatic variant, both prices ex-showroom, India. Bookings, too, have officially commenced today for Rs 11,000.
The Toyota Rumion is essentially a badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with minimal cosmetic changes. It’s also available with CNG right from launch, priced at Rs 11.24 lakh.
- Rumion prices start from Rs 10.29 lakh in India
- It’s based on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
- Is available in both petrol and CNG spec
The Rumion is available in three trim levels – S, G and V – with the automatic gearbox on offer on all but the mid-spec G trim, while the factory-fitted CNG kit is available only on the base S trim. Here’s a detailed breakup of the prices.
Toyota Rumion price (ex-showroom) | |
---|---|
Variant | Price |
S | Rs 10.29 lakh |
S AT | Rs 11.89 lakh |
G | Rs 11.45 lakh |
V | Rs 12.18 lakh |
V AT | Rs 13.68 lakh |
S CNG | Rs 11.24 lakh |
Compared to the Ertiga, which ranges between Rs 8.64 lakh to Rs 13.08 lakh, the Rumion has one lesser trim level and, therefore, a much higher starting price. The Rumion also commands a premium of Rs 51,000-61,000 over the Ertiga, depending on the trim.
Toyota Rumion exterior, interior and features
Cosmetically, the Rumion isn't much differentiated from the Ertiga that it’s based on – the only differences are on the bumper where it gets new trapezoidal fog lamp housings, and a new Innova Crysta-like grille. There are also new dual-tone alloys, although the rest of the profile and rear end are identical to the Ertiga.
The interior is also identical, continuing with the dual-tone black and beige dashboard finish with a faux wood insert, as is the beige upholstery. On the equipment front, the top-spec Rumion gets features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, analog instrument cluster with a digital MID, connected car tech, four airbags, ESC and more. The Rumion is only available in 7-seat configuration.
Toyota Rumion engine and gearbox
Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion gets Maruti’s 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In CNG-spec, the same engine produces 88hp and 121.5Nm, and only gets the manual gearbox option. Toyota claims the Rumion petrol has a fuel efficiency of 20.51kpl, while the Rumion CNG returns 26.11km/kg.
Toyota Rumion warranty and rivals
Toyota is offering a standard warranty of 3 years/1,00,000 km, which can be extended to 5 years/2,20,000 km. Primary rival to the Rumion will be its own sibling, the Ertiga, but it will also see competition from the entry-level variants of the Kia Carens (Rs 10.45 lakh-18.45 lakh) and the 6-seater Maruti Suzuki XL6 (Rs 11.56 lakh-14.82 Lakh).
All prices ex-showroom, India
