In a move that is sure to bolster its already strong image as a ‘safe car’, the Volkswagen Vento has just received a crucial update to its safety package. Top-spec versions – Highline Plus – of the sedan will now feature dual front side airbags, in addition to the dual airbags already offered as standard. This takes the Vento’s airbag count to four. The total, however, is still down on the fully loaded Hyundai Verna and Honda City that feature six airbags. Of all the mid-sized sedans, it's the Toyota Yaris that is the best-equipped with seven airbags, and that too as standard.
Other modifications to the Vento line-up include new ‘Portago Grey’ 16-inch alloy wheels for the Highline Plus variants, and new 15-inch alloy wheels for the Highline trim. A body-coloured rear spoiler has also been added.
The update also brings with it the option of a new Lapiz Blue shade, a ‘moonstone’ colour surround for the radio, a glovebox light and a rear USB charging port, all of which are also now available on the Polo hatchback and Ameo compact sedan. The Polo GT also gets new chequered seat fabrics.
