Ashok Leyland’s recently launched Stile MPV is available in three trims, LE, LS and LX. The base LE trim costs Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is offered only with a bench seat in the middle row.

Standard on all three MPV trims are power steering, air-conditioning, foldable third row seats, seat belts on all three rows, child lock on the rear door, tilt-adjustable steering and a 2 years/50,000km warranty.

Move up to the LS trim and you get the option of captain seats in the middle row, optional 185 R15 tyres with alloy wheels, body coloured front and rear bumpers, dual-tone interiors, adjustable head-restraints for the second row, air-con vents for the second row, central locking and powered front windows. Over and above the kit the LS trim gets, the only thing that the top-spec LX trim gets is a silver-finish centre console, fabric seat covers and body coloured wing mirrors. The Stile also comes with a sliding window for the second row of seats – a feature that is not present on even the Nissan Evalia but is expected to be available soon.

What the Ashok Leyland Stile misses out on are safety features like ABS, EBD and airbags (even on the top-spec LX trim), which its sibling, the Evalia, gets as standard across the range. And while the car showcased at the launch event had a music system incorporated, it is unclear whether Ashok Leyland offers it as an option in the MPV.

The Stile only comes with one engine option, the 1461cc K9K diesel engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. However, it puts out 74bhp and 18.86kgm of torque, which is 11bhp and 1.54kgm less than the Nissan Evalia. It sips fuel at an ARAI certified 19.5kpl. The dimensions for the Ashok Leyland Stile are 4400mm, 1700mm, 1860mm and 2725mm in terms of length, width, height and wheelbase, respectively. The MPV is available in five colours, Sparkling White, Silky Silver, Moon Grey, Passion Red and Imperial Black.

There’s no word on pricing for the LS and LX trims yet, but the mid-spec LS trim seems to be the pick of the lot for the best value for money. We estimate it to cost around Rs 50,000 more than the LE trim.
