With the year winding down, carmakers tend to offer some hefty discounts on their range of cars and SUVs in a bid to clear out stocks of models from the previous model years. Here we take a look at some of the best deals currently available on SUVs and MPVs.

Mahindra Alturas discounts
Benefits up to Rs 3.06 lakh
Mahindra’s large body-on-frame SUV is being offered with heavy discounts of up to Rs 3.06 lakh. This rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and MG Gloster, the Mahindra Alturas can be had with cash discounts of up to Rs 2.2 lakh, with additional benefits of up to Rs 86,000, including a Rs 50,000 exchange bonus. Buyers will like the big Mahindra for its comfy and well-equipped cabin and refined diesel engine, though the third-row is tight on space.
Jeep Compass discounts
Benefits up to Rs 2 lakh
Jeep’s first made-in-India SUV, the Compass feels tough and offers a well-sorted ride and handling package, with all-wheel drive versions being quite accomplished off-road. Buyers have the choice of 1.4-litre turbo-petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engine options, both available with manual and automatic gearboxes. The Jeep Compass is available with benefits of up to Rs 2 lakh on the standard as well as the off-road-focused Trailhawk variants. The recently revealed Compass facelift is expected to arrive next year.
Renault Duster discounts
Benefits up to Rs 1 lakh
Renault’s long-serving Duster soldiers on in the BS6 era without its much-loved 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine, though the new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol does add some spice to the driving experience. The strength of the Duster still lies in its tough build and well-sorted ride, but it’s not as well equipped as the competition. The Duster Turbo is available with benefits of up to Rs 1 lakh, while the standard 1.5-litre petrol version is offered with up to Rs 80,000 off.
Maruti Suzuki S Cross discounts
Benefits of up to Rs 68,000
With Maruti Suzuki exiting the diesel game entirely with the shift to BS6, the S-Cross received an update earlier this year which saw the crossover receive a petrol engine option. Available with the same mild-hybrid 1.5-litre engine as the Ciaz and Ertiga, the S-Cross isn’t the most powerful in the segment it’s spacious, comfortable, nicely put together and offers great ride and handling balance. Depending on the variant buyers can avail of benefits of up to Rs 68,000 on the crossover.
Tata Harrier discounts
Benefits of up to Rs 65,000
For 2020, the Tata Harrier received a thorough update in the form of a more powerful 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine and a much-awaited automatic gearbox option. As before, the strengths of the Harrier are its tough build, well-sorted ride and spacious cabin, with the automatic gearbox now adding more convenience to the package. Lower variants are offered with benefits of up Rs 65,000. Buyers looking for the fully-loaded XZ+ in manual and automatic, or the Dark and Camo editions, can only avail of exchange benefits to the tune of Rs 40,000.
Maruti Vitara Brezza discounts
Benefits up to Rs 56,000
The Maruti Vitara Brezza in its updated guise packs a spacious cabin, well-sorted ride and efficient petrol engine, although it’s not as well equipped as some similarly priced rivals and there’s no longer a diesel engine option. Buyers can avail of benefits of up to Rs 56,000 on the compact SUV for the month of December.
Mahindra XUV500 discounts
Benefits up to Rs 51,200
With an all-new model set to arrive in the market next year, the current XUV500 can be had with benefits of up to Rs 51,200. Offered solely with a 155hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine, the XUV500 goes up against mid-size SUVs such as the MG Hector and Hector Plus, and Tata Harrier. Buyers will like the Mahindra’s strong diesel engine and road presence, though it does feel a bit long in the tooth now.
Mahindra Scorpio discounts
Benefits up to Rs 30,600
Another long-running model from Mahindra, the Scorpio too is set to be replaced by an all-new model next year. Currently available in a choice of four variants and with a sole 140hp, 2.2-litre diesel engine, the Scorpio can be had with benefits of up to Rs 30,600.
MPVs
Mahindra Marazzo discounts
Benefits up to Rs 36,000
The Mahindra Marazzo is currently the most affordable diesel MPV in the market. Buyers can avail of cash benefits of up to Rs 15,000 on the MPV, with further benefits in the form of a Rs 15,000 exchange bonus and Rs 6,000 in corporate benefits. With the shift to BS6, the Marazzo has undergone a variant revision, with the previously available fully-loaded variant replaced by a new lower-spec variant.
Maruti Eeco discounts
Benefits up to Rs 30,000
The Maruti Eeco’s strength is its rock bottom pricing – it’s the cheapest way to transport seven people from A to B – low running costs and Maruti’s peace-of-mind ownership experience. Available with benefits of up to Rs 30,000, the Eeco can be had in standard petrol guise or with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
Maruti Suzuki XL6 discounts
Benefits up to Rs 21,000
The six-seat derivative of the Ertiga, the Maruti XL6, like it’s sibling, is also a petrol-only model, with the major points of difference being its styling, six-seat layout with captain seats in the middle row, and positioning as a premium offering from the brand’s Nexa dealership chain. The premium MPV from Maruti can be had with benefits of up to Rs 21,000.
