Datsun India has updated its Go hatchback and Go+ MPV with more safety kit – labelled Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) by Datsun – and added a new Vivid Blue exterior paint for the hatchback. While the safety kit is only available on the top-spec T and T (O) trims, the addition marks a segment-first for both models in their respective segments. The Datsun Go with VDC is priced at Rs 4.83 lakh for the T variant and Rs 5.18 lakh for the T (O) variant while the Go+ comes in at Rs 5.68 lakh for the T variant and Rs 5.94 lakh for the T (O) variant. This represents a Rs 15,000 increase over the respective variants without the technology.
The Vehicle Dynamic Control, or VDC, safety technology monitors various parameters of the car (like wheel speed, steering wheel position and lateral acceleration) using onboard sensors, and uses the information to provide Electronic Stability Control (ESC). In other words, the top-spec T and T (O) variants of the Go hatchback and Go+ MPV now get traction control and ESC as standard, along with two airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, which had been added to the range with the facelifts in October 2018.
Since its update late last year, the Datsun Go and Go+ come equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, though only the top-spec T and T (O) variants are available with this feature. This update provides the lower trims of the Go and Go+ with a standard audio system.
Mechanically, both cars continue to be powered by the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 68hp and 104Nm of torque. This motor is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
