Hyundai has announced that the i20 Active for European markets will be showcased to general audience at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show 2015.  The Hyundai i20 Active, like its Indian counterpart, gets exterior tweaks such as additional body cladding, faux skid plates, roof rails and newly designed alloys. Other changes on the outside include new bumpers at the front and rear with round fog lamps, a tweaked grille, projector headlamps with daytime running lights and cornering lights, a new fuel-filler lid and a glossy black C-pillar.

The major differentiator between the India-spec i20 Active and the Euro-spec model lies under the hood. Hyundai will equip the latter with an all-new 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor. This unit – based on the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Kappa unit that powers the European i10 – features direct injection and a small, single-scroll turbocharger, and is expected to produce up to 118bhp and 17.56kgm of torque. The standard-spec Hyundai i20 for Europe is also expected to get the same motor.

In the cabin, the Euro-spec i20 Active gets sport pedals and a touchscreen infotainment system – a recently added feature on the India-spec car as well.

Hyundai recently unveiled the i20 N Sport for some international markets, which comes with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor. For India, there is no news about the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor making its way in to the i20 or the Active, as of now.
