Jaguar is expected to launch the F-Pace, its first-ever SUV, in India around the festive season this year. It will be introduced here as a CBU with a 240hp 2.0-litre petrol engine, which will be shared with the XE sedan. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 80-85 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker has however updated details of only the diesel-powered models on its website but sources in the company tell us that the petrol-powered model will come to India first.
Earlier, we brought you reviews of the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre V6 diesel-powered versions of the F-Pace, both of which are likely to be introduced to the SUV’s line-up early-2017. Being a full import, it will rival bigger SUVs like the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE. While the GLE and X5 offer a petrol engine on their costlier, high-performance 450 Coupe and X5 M variants, the F-pace offers a petrol engine on its regular model.
The Porsche Macan is the only other close rival to the F-Pace to offer a petrol engine.
