While automakers have announced a hike in prices at the start of the new year, Maruti has quietly slashed the prices of its premium crossover, the S-Cross, by up to Rs 2.05 lakh in an attempt to boost sales. The prices of the car now start at Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Launched in August at a starting price of Rs 8.34 lakh for the base DDiS 200 Sigma, the car has not made a very big impact in the market with sales averaging around 3,000 units per month and dealers offering discounts within a few months of launch. In comparison, its rival, the Hyundai Creta has been selling an average of around 7,000 units per month with Hyundai ramping up its production to meet demand.
With the revision, the less powerful DDiS 200 is now more affordable as the prices have been brought down by upto Rs 66,000 depending on the trim. The more powerful S-Cross DDiS 320 on the other hand has had a more significant decline with prices down by Rs 2.05 lakh across all trims.

Maruti has hiked prices of its enitre range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 4,000 except for the Baleno whose prices have gone up by Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
