The first new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has rolled off the assembly line at the carmaker’s Sindelfingen plant.
The car has been described by Mercedes-Benz board member Markus Schafer as "The world's most intelligent business saloon”. Moreover, the next-generation E-Class features a number of innovative technologies such as the Drive Pilot, the Pilot Distronic system and the Steering Pilot. The carmaker also claims that the new E-Class can take into account surrounding vehicles and parallel structures, and adjust accordingly at speeds of up to 130kph, even if the lines are unclear or non-existent, as they tend to be at road works sections.
To mark the event, Mercedes-Benz gathered examples of all nine predecessors of the new E-Class at the finishing line in Sindelfingen. The Sindelfingen plant is Daimler AG's oldest established vehicle plant, and currently produces the S-Class (Saloon, Coupe and Cabriolet), the E-Class (Saloon and Estate), the CLS and the CLS Shooting Brake, the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Mercedes-Maybach.
