Mercedes-Benz India has just launched two coupé versions of the S-class — the S 500 Coupé and the high-performance S 63 AMG Coupé. The S 500 Coupé is priced at Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the S 63 AMG Coupé is priced at Rs 2.6 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The S 500 Coupé is the two-door version of the S 500 sedan already on sale in the market. The features will be similar to that of the standard S 500. However, the rear end is styled differently here and it gets a more sloping profile. Under the hood, the car is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 developing 449.2bhp and 71.4kgm of torque.

The S 500 Coupé gets features such as panoramic sunroof, heads-up display, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, Night View Assist Plus, along with Mercedes Pre-Safe. Additionally, Mercedes also offers 'Magic Sky Control' as an optional add-on. The system allows the occupants to change the opacity of the sunroof with the touch of a button. Another optional is the Swarowski crystal encrusted headlamps.

The S 63 AMG Coupé's styling is like that of the S 500 Coupé, but with added AMG influences like an aggressive body kit and carbon-fibre bits inside the cabin. It is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbo AMG V8 developing 577bhp and 91.77kgm of torque mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed gearbox with three drive modes.

Mercedes has introduced the Magic Body Control as standard on the S 63 AMG Coupé. The system features the company's Active Body Control, Road Surface Scan and Curve Tilting functions to actively control the suspension based on road conditions. The system uses a stereo camera to scan the road ahead as well as lateral acceleration sensors to monitor body movement.

Also launched is the G 63 AMG 'Crazy Colour' edition at Rs 2.17 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). This edition gets a choice of three exclusive paint schemes along with matte black alloy wheels and bespoke leather interiors.

Mercedes has also announced Designo editions for the S-class and CLS-class. This exclusive platform allows customers to choose from a wider range of exterior colours, interior trims and upholstery options for the car.

Mercedes has also confirmed that the new GLE-class will be launching in India by 2015-end.
