    Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S revealed

Mitsubishi has revealed the first pictures of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S. It is slated to make public debut at the Paris motor show next month.

Based on the Outlander PHEV hybrid SUV, which launched at the Paris show in 2012, the Concept-S is said to offer "a sportier and more sophisticated visual expression of Mitsubishi’s PHEV technology".

Among the key visual changes are new chrome accents around Mitsubishi's central grille, plus wrap-around headlight clusters. Chrome accents also feature at the rear. The look of the concept, especially its front-end design, draws from some of the firm's recent show cars including the XR-PHEV and GC-PHEV. However, this is the first time that look has trickled onto a production model.

Inside, Mitsubishi has trimmed the Concept-S with black wood and leather, with silver accents and new ribbed seat cushions.

The model measures 4760mm long by 1842mm wide, with a height of 1700mm. The two share the same wheelbase, at 2670mm. The Concept S is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor working in tandem with two electric motors. Total power is rated at 200bhp, alongside 33.9kgm.

In standard form, the Outlander PHEV can cover the 0-100kph sprint in 10 seconds with a top speed of 171kph.
