Hyundai has begun work on next-gen i20 hatchback. The popular model from Hyundai in its current avatar is on sale since 2014 and will see a full model change sometime in 2020. The Hyundai i20 is a global model that takes on the likes of the Ford Fiesta hatchback, the Honda Jazz and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the Indian market.

According to our sister publication, Autocar UK, the next-gen Hyundai i20 will also come with a performance oriented N variant which will take on the sporty Fiesta ST in the global market. The next-gen i20 N will follow in the footsteps of the larger i30 N and feature both chassis and engine modifications – which means more power than the standard car, along with suitable lowering and stiffer suspension, performance brakes and a more direct-ratio steering set-up.

The new Hyundai i20 N is likely to come with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine with an output of as much as 200hp, which will make it much more powerful than the standard car.
