Nissan has taken the covers off the facelifted Nissan GT-R at the New York Auto Show 2016. The facelifted car gets a bump up in power along with receiving cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior, and added features.

In terms of design, the car gets revised bumpers with new side air-vents, a revised grille, tweaked headlamps and a bonnet that the company says has been significantly reinforced to better handle high speed driving. At the rear, the bumper has been tweaked with new side air vents on the lower edges, while the blacked-out section along the lower bumper is now slightly higher. The car sits on newly designed alloy wheels.

Inside, the facelifted GT-R gets an all-new dashboard and a new multi-function steering wheel. The centre console gets a new 8.0-inch touchscreen display, while the number of switchgear has also been reduced.

Under the hood, the facelifted GT-R has been given a bump up in power with the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 now developing 562.2bhp and 64.95kgm of torque, as against the old car’s 542bhp and 64.4kgm. Nissan says that it has boosted the output of the car by increasing boost pressure from the turbos and individual ignition-timing control of each cylinder. The engine is paired with a revised six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The car also gets a revised titanium exhaust system.

Other mechanical changes include a stiffened body structure and a revised suspension setup, which Nissan claims, have improved the car’s stability and increased its cornering speed.

The facelifted GT-R will go on sale internationally later this year with the car also expected to come to India before the year is out.
