On World EV Day, Skoda unveiled the first design sketches of its upcoming electric SUV, the Elroq. This new model will be the first production car in Skoda’s line-up to adopt its new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, and will be the brand’s second EV after the Enyaq iV.

The Elroq will feature what the company calls ‘Tech-Deck face’, with the Skoda lettering replacing the emblem and a new split headlamp setup. The iconic butterfly grille makes way for a much smaller unit, with the front bumper featuring a large faux air intake. The main headlamps come with Skoda’s LED Matrix tech and are placed on the bumper. The car is finished in a new Timiano Green colour.

The rear-end looks similar to existing Skoda SUVs with the sharp wraparound LED tail-lights and the Skoda emblem placed in the middle. The lettering at the front and rear is finished in dark chrome, while the wheels are the only place where the emblem can now be seen on the outside.

Inside the cabin, it gets a large infotainment screen that takes the centrestage, with only a handful of physical buttons placed under the middle AC vents. The Elroq also gets a two-spoke steering wheel with the Skoda lettering, along with a digital instrument cluster.

    Skoda Elroq launch details, specs

The Skoda Elroq is due for a global unveil later this year and will go on sale in Europe in early 2025. The carmaker is exploring the possibility of bringing the Elroq electric SUV to India, alongside the Enyaq iV, which has already been confirmed for launch in the country.

Detailed specs for the Elroq are yet to be revealed, but we do know that it measures about 4.2 metres in length. The SUV will boast a drag coefficient of just 0.26, and offer a 470-litre boot space.

Moreover, it will have four variants: Elroq 50, 60, 85 and 85x, with the models varying in battery capacity and corresponding power output ranging between 168hp and 295hp. There will be three battery packs on offer – 55kWh, 63kWh and 82kWh – with RWD and AWD configurations and a claimed range of over 560km.
