The Tata Zest sedan has received more than 10,000 bookings since order books opened up on July 19, prior to its launch on August 12.
Ranjit Yadav, president of the passenger vehicle business unit at Tata Motors tweeted saying the car has received 10,000 plus orders for the next two months. We had also learnt recently about the growing waiting periods for the Zest, specifically for the AMT-equipped model. Currently, waiting periods range from four to six weeks for all models except the AMT-equipped one which will keep buyers waiting for three to four months.
The Zest sedan is a crucial part of Tata’s efforts to make a comeback in the Indian compact sedan segment where it squares off against popular rivals like the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Xcent.
The Tata Zest is powered by a new 88.7bhp, 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It comes with three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport. It also gets the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced Quadrajet diesel unit that comes in two states of tune – 74bhp and 89bhp. Apart from the manual gearbox, the diesel motor comes with the option of an automated manual transmission (AMT).
The Tata Zest sedan is priced in the range of Rs 4.64 – 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
