Toyota has added a new mid-spec automatic variant to the Rumion MPV’s line-up. The Rumion G was previously available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox, but now buyers can opt for a 6-speed automatic transmission as well. The Rumion G AT is priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which makes it Rs 1.40 lakh costlier than its manual counterpart. Bookings have commenced for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Toyota Rumion G AT: what’s new?
The Rumion is available in three trims – S, G and V – but curiously, until now, the automatic gearbox option was only available on the base-spec S and top-spec G trims. With this latest update, the auto gearbox option is available across the range. The G AT is priced Rs 1.06 lakh higher than the S AT, and Rs 73,000 lower than the top-spec V AT.
The G AT has the same equipment list as its manual counterpart; It boasts two-tone alloy wheels, dual-tone seat fabrics, keyless entry and go, automatic climate control, 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front fog lights and Toyota’s in-car connectivity suite, which are missing on the base S trim. However, the G variant lacks features such as a leather-wrapped steering, cruise control, side airbags, and a rear camera.
Toyota Rumion: powertrain, specs
Under the hood, the Toyota Rumion is powered by Maruti’s 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In CNG-spec, the same engine produces 88hp and 121.5Nm, and only comes with a manual gearbox.
Crucially, Toyota has reopened bookings for the Rumion CNG variant that’s available in the base-spec S trim. In September last year, the company had temporarily halted bookings for the Rumion CNG citing “overwhelming demand”, with waiting periods extending up to a year in certain places.
The Rumion MPV is priced between Rs 10.44 lakh and 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and rivals the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and the Kia Carens.
