Another fantastic bit on this car is the dynamic mode, selectable via a beautifully built military-grade toggle switch. Switch it on and the handling tightens up, allowing you to enjoy the road. A lot of this is down to the dampers that adjust themselves around a 100 times a second, meaning they almost always have the right amount of stiffness in them. This is also partly why the car drives so well. Of course, the all-aluminium chassis helps and so does the high-tech electronic rear differential, but what helps most is how well Jaguar has integrated all the systems on this car.

Absolutely the best bit about this car has to be just how friendly it is to drive hard. It’s so approachable, it doesn't intimidate you, and that makes you truly enjoy the whole experience. It may not have the precision of a Porsche, it may not be millimetre-perfect like a track car, but it has a friendly, welcoming nature. And that makes you want to drive it harder and harder, which is really what you want from your 488bhp drop top.

There’s little doubt that Jaguar has got its new F-Type spot on. It has a pliant ride that’s perfect for Indian conditions, the cabin is spacious, well-executed and beautifully crafted, and its looks elicit exactly the kind of slack-jaw response customers are looking for. It is quite easily one of the most attractive convertibles out there. The F-Type also works fabulously as a bonafide sportscar. Acceleration feels supercar quick, while handling is approachable and entertaining. It isn’t fatiguing or difficult to drive either. It may lack the grip and precision of some of the more hardcore competition, and it may be seriously expensive at Rs 1.61 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai)for the V8S too, but if you are looking for a sportscar that has the right blend of attributes for Indian conditions, this could be it.
