In a major boost to drag racing in India, Elite Octane has announced that it will be sending two Indian riders to compete in the World Finals of Motorcycle Drag Racing in the USA. Representing our country will be Sundeep Singh Sokhi and Amit Sharma. It will be the first occasion that Indian riders will be competing in the World Finals.

Both the riders were part of the Rickey Gadson Drag Racing School, which was held during the 2017 edition of The Valley Run at the Amby Valley airstrip. Both the riders will be trained by 11-time world drag race champion Rickey Gadson before competing in the event scheduled from November 15 to 18 at the SGMP (South Georgia Motor Park), Valdosta, USA. Sokhi and Sharma will be trained on the drag-spec Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 specifically developed by Rickey Gadson. Both the riders will be competing in the drag race on the same motorcycle.

Elite Octane has been organising drag racing events in India from 2013 with the support of the Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India (FMSCI). It has organised drag race events in Amby Valley (Lonavala), Bangalore, BIC race track, Goa and Kolkata. The next event will be held in December at Gujarat. The 2018 edition of The Valley Run was held earlier this year in April. You can read about it here.
