Pariat takes clean sweep in MRF Formula 2000, Round 2

Round 2 of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Car Racing Championship – held at the Madras International Circuit – saw some standout performances from Jaden Pariat, Abhay Mohan and Biren Pithawalla.

MRF Formula 2000

Pariat continued his strong run in headlining the MRF Formula 2000 category. The 17-year-old started off the season with two wins in Round 1. And he followed that up with a clean sweep in Round 2, winning all three races across the weekend.

Race 3

1. Jaden Rahman Pariat – 12mins 39.637secs

2. Chetan Surineni – 12mins 52.399secs

MRF Formula 1600

15-year-old Abhay Mohan also won all three races. In fact, Race 2 saw him battle his way through the field from P7 on the grid.

“I was very patient and I knew that I had to grab the opportunity when the guys in front made a mistake, which they did eventually,” said Mohan, who has so far won all the races in the Formula 1600 category.

Indian Touring Cars

Over in the Indian Touring Cars category, Team N1 Racing’s Biren Pithawalla secured his fourth straight win in as many races. While he won the first race from pole position, he had to fight his way up from P3 in the reverse grid Race 2. Deepak Ravikumar made it to the podium in both races, finishing P2 in the first race and P3 in the second race.

3. Deepak Ravikumar (Team Performance Racing) – 19mins 14.141secs

Indian Junior Touring Cars

Srinivas Teja scored two back-to-back wins in the Indian Junior Touring Cars category. Yokeshwaran featured on the podium in both races as well, with a pair of third place finishes.

Super Stock

Despite crossing the chequered flag in first place, Buzzing Hornet Motorsports’ Angad Matharoo was disqualified due to a technical infringement. This handed victory to Redline Racing India’s Anirudha Arvind.

But Matharoo bounced back the next day to win Race 2 ahead of Justin Singh and Arvind.

Formula LGB 1300

DTS Racing’s Viswas Vijayaraj won two races – Race 1 and Race 3 – in the Formula LGB 1300. But he couldn’t pull off a clean sweep, with his teammate Balaprasath defeating him to win Race 2
