For years now, The Valley Run has been the crowning glory of India’s drag racing scene. Organiser Elite Octane took it a step further this year, launching the Elite Cup – comprising three drag racing events across the country. The first of these was the Aces of Speed in Hosur, followed by the Hyderabad Speed Fest.

The Valley Run will serve as the 2023 finale for the first ever Elite Cup season. The Aamby Valley airstrip will be converted into a quarter-mile dragstrip for both bikes and cars on the weekend of December 8-10. Registrations for the event will open on November 1, 2023.

The first-ever edition of the Valley Run was held in 2013 and had around 200 entries. Since then, the event has continued growing and has amassed a dedicated fan base. Last year’s edition – celebrating 10 years of The Valley Run – saw more than 700 participants.

For the first time in the history of the event, a four-wheeler managed to achieve a sub-10 second quarter-mile time. Driving a modified Nissan GTR (tuned by Kik Shift and Alpha Logic), Imran Majid set a blistering time of 9.766sec. Mohammed Riyaz, riding a tuned Suzuki Hayabusa, was the fastest rider last year, with a time of 9.716 seconds.

Fans can expect the EV class to return this year as well.

Elite Octane teams up with Nisarga

Elite Octane has also announced that it has joined hands with Nisarga – Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s new event management venture. They’ll be working together for the upcoming Valley Run.

“Our focus for the past decade has been to take motorsports to all, which is primarily the reason for choosing the globally popular format of Drag Racing," Rongom Tagore Mukerji, founder, Elite Octane, said. "It is truly the T20 of motorsports and the only format that connects any one or vehicle with racing in a controlled environment. We have seen tremendous growth in the popular EV Race categories and with the support of Nisarga, we intend to take significant steps towards building a clean motor-sporting future with focused initiatives."
