Hyundai Alcazar turbo

Quick review

New turbo petrol engine

Makes 160hp, 253Nm

1hp, 61Nm more than the 2.0 MPi it replaces

Performance

0-100kph in 10.21sec
20-80kph in 5.59sec
40-100kph in 7.32sec
1.5 turbo is slower from 0-100kph but quicker in gear than 2.0 MPi

Fuel economy

City: 7.72kpl, Highway: 12.76kpl

Gets auto start/stop but high ambient temp meant the car didn’t switch off even at signals to keep AC running.

Ride and handling

Low speed ride is a touch firm, but feels composed at high speeds

Handling is predictable and light steering is a boon in the city

Exterior and interior changes

Gets a redesigned front grille
Turbo and DCT badges
Auto start/stop button on the right hand side of steering

Dual tone interior looks premium

Front seats are ventilated, electrically adjustable and comfy
Middle-row space is ample but not as comfy as front seats
Third row is tight on space; best saved for kids

Verdict

What we like:
Refined engine
Lengthy features list

What we don’t like:
