Maruti Invicto review

Maruti Suzuki Invicto

Quick review

Maruti Invicto design

Isn’t a Maruti at first glance

It is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross
Gets a handsome SUV-esque MPV design
Has a different grille than the Hycross
Similar lights but get Nexa’s three-block design

Maruti Invicto interior

Interior’s slightly different from Hycross

Gets all-black interior with champagne gold accents
Leatherette upholstery looks rich
Still has too many scratchy plastics
Visibility and ergonomics are good

Maruti Invicto seats

Oodles of space

Gets 7- and 8-seat configurations
Captain’s seats are large and comfortable, get backrest recline
Powered legrest is missing but is available on the Hycross

Third row is comfy

Access to third row is convenient
Space is enough for three average-sized adults in reasonable comfort

Long features list

Powered driver’s seat with memory
Powered tail-gate
360-degree camera
Dual-zone climate control

Touchscreen feels a step down

Compared to Maruti's SmartPro Play+
Gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen
Graphics are dull
Screen isn’t very responsive
Wired Android Auto
Wireless Apple CarPlay

Pretty practical

Luggage room is impressive
Folding the third row opens up cargo van levels of room
Wide openings make it easy to load large items

Only gets a strong-hybrid powertrain

By default, it starts in electric mode
Silent progress in e-mode is easy to get used to
Engine’s performance is pleasant and has enough go for a quick overtake

Surprisingly easy to drive

Steering is easy to use at slow speeds
Relatively small turning circle makes it feel smaller than it is
Ride comfort is good
Suspension works quietly
A bit of road noise seeps in

Good high speed manners

It turns diligently enough on winding roads
Isn’t ruffled by bad sections of road taken at speed

Verdict

We Like

Efficiency
Space and comfort

We Don't Like

Touchscreen feels basic
