The new Wagon R has the same wheelbase length as the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The vertical tail-lamps are thicker than the previous model's, adding to the new Wagon R's wider stance. New headlamp units are rounder than the outgoing model's; DRLs offer even on top-spec trim. The bonnet is longer on the new model; grille design is simpler. The top-spec Wagon R ZXi gets turn indicators embedded in the wing mirrors. The new Wagon R is bigger and lighter than the outgoing model. The 2019 Wagon R gets more equipment too, particularly in the safety department. Maruti Suzuki's new Wagon R sports a rounder look overall, while still retaining the tall-boy design. The cabin is more upmarket than the outgoing Wagon R's; the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes on the range-topping variant. Automated manual transmission is offered on both engines - the 68hp, 1.0-litre and the 83hp, 1.2-litre. As the new Wagon R is bigger, it is also far more spacious on the inside than the older model. Like the Swift, Ignis, Dzire and Ertiga, the new Wagon R is also based on Maruti Suzuki's Heartect platform. The K12 petrol engine is also shared with the likes of the Swift, Baleno and Dzire. The new Wagon R has the same rivals as the outgoing model - the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go and Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Boot space is also more now. Traditional high-set seats make a comeback. The top-spec variant will come with a touchscreen infotainment system. A highlight of the new Wagon R is there's a new 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine that will be sold alongside the older 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit.
