Hyundai Tucson AWD likely by May 2017

The recently launched Hyundai Tucson is offered with both petrol and diesel engines mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox. However, all variants only feature a two-wheel-drive layout. This is virtually the only drive layout that sells, but most manufacturers also bring in a four-wheel-drive version for the few who desire it and also to add to the SUV imagery. So, by May 2017, Hyundai will be introducing a four- wheel-drive option to the Tucson line-up, paired to the diesel engine.

The Tucson is priced from Rs 18.99 to 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and compared to its direct rival the Honda CR-V, there are quite a few who feel Hyundai to be pricey. This could be due to the fact that at its price point the Tucson is up against some of the larger seven-seat SUVs like the Endeavour. And while it does feature plenty of equipment like dual-zone climate control and a 10-way-powered driver seat, it misses out on bits like a sunroof and rain sensing wipers, features that rivals or cars from a lower segment come with. Consequently, we can expect the auto gearbox Tucson to be equipped with a few more goodies like a panoramic sunroof, but the challenge for Hyundai will be to keep the price from climbing too high.
