Hyundai has showcased the new Tucson SUV in India for the first time at the 2016 Auto Expo. The new Tucson is Hyundai’s only SUV which is not on sale yet in India. Currently in its third generation, the new car was shown at the Geneva motor show in 2015 and features an attractive, modern design that brings it in line with Hyundai’s biggest SUV, the Santa Fe. Sitting between the popular Creta and the luxurious Santa Fe, the Tucson will be powered by a choice of petrol and diesel engines.
Another model present at the Hyundai stand is the futuristic Hyundai N2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept. A part of Hyundai’s 'Future Zone' at its pavilion, the car with its flowing lines is not just an eye-catcher but also an introduction to the Korean automaker’s N performance division which will soon start production of performance models of Hyundai's line-up internationally. The other attraction at the zone is the HND-14 compact SUV concept, the production version of which is expected in 2019 and could rival Maruti's upcoming Brezza.
Hyundai is also showing the new Sonata PHEV plug-in hybrid and a mock-up of a fuel cell electric vehicle which displays the various mechanical components of the company’s development in hydrogen fuel cell technology.
Other cars present at Hyundai’s pavilion include the i20 Active, the Creta and Grand i10.
The carmaker is also using the Auto Expo platform to showcase its stand-alone luxury brand, Genesis.
The carmaker's new technological developments like the new downsized 1.0-litre GDi and a larger 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol engines are also on show. Alongside, there are the company’s new seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and an eight-speed automatic unit developed for front-wheel-drive models. The Genesis crash car showcases Hyundai's advances in occupant protection.
The Korean carmaker is also hosting a range of interactive activities at its pavilion along with a 'kids' zone' that encourages safety education and awareness.
