Aprilia has added the SXR 160 to the line-up on their Indian website. While the price hasn’t been revealed yet, the company’s website has a ‘book now’ section that’s operational.

The SXR 160 has finally made its way to the Aprilia India website. The model page reveals that the company has started accepting bookings for the maxi-scooter. According to the website, the SXR 160 is available in four colours – blue, black, white and red.

Powering the SXR 160 is the 160.03cc, three-valve, fuel-injected engine that first made its debut on the updated SR 160. The SXR also has an identical bore and stroke (58 x 60.6) as the SR. Just like the SR, the SXR makes 11hp at 7,600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6,000rpm.

Braking on the SXR is also handled by a 220mm disc up front and a 140mm drum at the rear, just like the SR. The SXR will also get ABS, which is likely to be single-channel one as on the Vespa and SRs. While the SR uses 14-inch wheels, the SXR makes do with 12-inch wheels at both ends. Interestingly, both front and rear tyres are of the same size (120/70-12).
The specification sheet on the website also reveals that the SXR 160 has a fuel tank capacity of seven litres and a wheelbase of 1,353mm. What remains to be seen is how informative the full-LCD display is.

At the time the scooter was unveiled, Piaggio mentioned that it was looking to position the SXR between the Vespa and the Aprilia SR range, and its pricing will reflect this. For reference, prices for the current BS6 Vespa range start at Rs 93,000 and go up to Rs 1.36 lakh, while the Aprilia SR range starts at Rs 87,000 and goes up to Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, we expect the price to be closer to those of the top-end Vespa models.
