The 2021 Ducati XDiavel has been launched in India starting at Rs 18 lakh.

  • Costs Rs 50,000 more than before
  • Dark and Black Star variants
  • 160hp, 127Nm, 1,262cc L-twin

The 2021 Ducati XDiavel has been launched in India at Rs 18 lakh for the Dark variant and Rs 22.60 lakh for the Black Star variant. This makes it Rs 50,000 more expensive than the older BS4 motorcycle, which started at Rs 17.5 lakh. On the other hand, it’s Rs 49,000 more affordable than the BS6 Diavel 1260.

Internationally, the XDiavel gets three variants, with an ‘S’ variant slotting in between the Dark and Black Star. The Dark is the entry-level version, and misses out on forged wheels, Brembo M50 brake calipers, a radial master cylinder, suede seats and the Ducati Multimedia system, all of which the Black Star gets as standard. The Black Star also sports a stealthy black and silver paint job, with a red stripe separating the two colours, as well as red paint on the engine covers.

Powering both versions is a 1,262cc L-twin motor producing 160hp at 9,500rpm and 127Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. These figures are 4hp more and 2Nm less than earlier, but 80 percent of the torque is now available from 2,100rpm.To help harness that firepower, Ducati has equipped the XDiavel with an IMU, which facilitates lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS. Other features include launch control, cruise control, full-LED lighting and backlit switchgear.

The XDiavel pretty much forms a genre of its own, with very little direct competition. But someone looking at this motorcycle might also take a look at the Diavel 1260 (Rs 18.49 lakh onwards) or the Triumph Rocket 3 (Rs 19.35 lakh onwards).
