Honda has issued a recall for two of its premium motorcycles – the Gold Wing GL1800 tourer and the CBR1000RR Fireblade – and both bikes reportedly suffer from a fuel pump issue.

  1. Gold Wing is the company’s flagship tourer in India
  2. CBR1000RR is the predecessor to the current Fireblade RRR

According to the company, the fuel pump impellers may have been improperly molded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure. This can cause the fuel pump to stop functioning and cause the bike to stall while riding.

The inspection and replacement of the faulty parts will be done free of cost irrespective of the warranty status of the motocycle. As soon as the parts are available, Honda BigWing dealers will notify the concerned party about the recall service.

Alternatively, owners of these bikes can go to the Honda BigWing India website and enter the VIN number of their machines and check whether that specific unit has been affected. Honda India’s BigWing website also claims that fixing the problem will take approximately 1 hour.

For the Honda Gold Wing GL1800, units manufactured between December 2017 to December 2023 are affected. In the case of the Honda CBR1000RR, bikes manufactured between September 2017 to April 2020 have been affected. While the Gold Wing GL1800 is offered only in a single variant in India, the erstwhile Fireblade was offered in two variants – standard and SP.
