The TVS Motor Company and its group companies under the Srinivasan Services Trust (SST) have undertaken a number of initiatives to tackle the effects of the deadly coronavirus pandemic. As part of the initiatives, the company has manufactured and distributed over one million face masks to healthcare workers and essential service providers across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The country is facing an acute shortage of masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to provide to those who are working on the frontlines.
Besides the supply of masks, the company has also distributed over 3.2 lakh food packets that were made at its kitchens located inside its Hosur and Padi factories. These food packets were distributed to police personnel and essential care workers.
One of the most important means of reducing the spread of the virus is by sanitizing public places, and the company has dispatched disinfectant spray canon-equipped vehicles to the corporation of Chennai. So far, they've managed to cover over 3,800 villages.
The national lockdown has also resulted in the temporary closure of automobile service centres. In order to ensure that the police and authorities aren't stranded, TVS is also offering free service to those riding TVS motorcycles. The TVS Apache and Star City are the official vehicles assigned to police personnel, especially in south India, and the upkeep of these motorcycles is essential in such times.
Speaking of maintenance, TVS also recently announced the extension of model warranties and free service deadlines.
While doing their bit for the country, TVS has also taken a few steps for employee well-being in these difficult times. An exclusive helpline to address queries has been set up for its workforce. In addition, there's a dedicated mobile app, called TVS-ICE or In Case of Emergency, to fulfill any requirement of its employees, be it medical, cash or health related.
As India battles this viral outbreak of unprecedented proportions, TVS and a number of other companies are doing all that's possible to help authorities restore normalcy at the earliest.
