BGauss has launched the RUV 350, an electric scooter with 16-inch wheels, priced between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

    1. Runs on 16-inch wheels at both ends
    2. Base variant misses out on Bluetooth, cruise control, hill hold
    3. Small 15 litre underseat storage on highest variant

BGauss RUV 350 features, range, variant details

The RUV comes in three variants: i EX, EX, and Max, with the Max claiming 120 km real-world range in Eco mode with its 3 kWh LFP battery, while the other two have a 90 km range with a 2.3 kWh battery. All of them use the 'InWheel Hyperdrive' motor (similar to the Chetak’s swingarm-mounted unit) and share a top speed of 75 kph.

The base RUV 350i EX has a segmented LCD display without Bluetooth, while the other two variants come with a 5-inch color TFT display offering notification alerts and navigation prompts. The base model also lacks cruise control, hill hold, fall safe, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The nifty thing about the RUV 350 is its use of large 16-inch wheels, similar to the step-through scooters commonly seen in Southeast Asian countries. While this promises a plush ride, Autocar India found out that its 130mm drum brakes at both ends do not provide effective stopping power. To read more about how the RUV 350 rides, tap here

Priced between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom), the RUV 350 competes with popular electric scooters such as the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. Its appeal against these established competitors remains to be seen.
