The Honda Activa has ruled the Indian automatic scooter segment for over a decade and rival manufacturers have strived hard to eat into the Activa’s market share with limited success. Honda has taken its successful automatic scooter back to the drawing board at regular intervals, having brought in a facelift, increased displacement, and the Combined Braking System (CBS) in the past. To further up this scooter’s appeal, now, Honda has incorporated new engine technology known as Honda Eco Technology (HET).
The Indian automatic scooter arena is set to become very competitive, with Honda updating the Activa and the influx of several new scooters heading our way this year, including other new models from Honda, Yamaha, Vespa and even Bajaj in the future. The 2013 Activa is priced at Rs 47,188 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is certain to continue as a strong value for money proposition for Indian buyers. Stay tuned for all the details, coming up shortly in the Autocar India, March 2013 issue.
