Jaguar has expanded its F-Type line-up in India by adding a four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine to the range. Available in Coupe and Convertible body styles, the former is priced at Rs 90.93 lakh while the latter costs Rs 1.01 crore (both prices, ex-showroom, India).
The entry-level F-Type’s 2.0-litre petrol engine is from JLR’s Ingenium series of modular engines and is tuned to produce 300hp and 400Nm of peak torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels, the new engine is claimed to be 52kg lighter than the outgoing motor, which helps achieve a claimed 0-100kph time of 5.7sec. The higher-spec R-Dynamic trim, offered on both body styles, gets a switchable active exhaust for more aural drama.
Just last month, Jaguar had launched the 2018 F-Type SVR in Coupe and Convertible forms and they received minor visual updates, including new daytime running LED lights with integrated indicators, a new bumper and revised tail-lights; these range toppers are priced from Rs 2.65 crore. The entry-level models launched now make the F-Type much more accessible.
The base F-type rivals the likes of the Porsche Cayman (Rs 81.63 lakh) and Boxster (Rs 85.53 lakh).
