Hyundai has revealed another version of the refreshed Verna sedan sold in the Russian market. The Hyundai Verna, known as the Solaris in Russia, gets a facelift milder than the one the China-spec model received last year.

At the front, the refreshed Solaris gets a new bumper with a wide intake below the grille. Also seen here are triangular fog lamp inserts similar to the ones on newer Hyundais like the Aura; it is expected to be seen on the next-gen i20 as well. The grille gets an all-black finish that makes the car look quite youthful than the Chinese model which has a chrome-laden grille.

The Solaris' side profile is the same, except for new-look alloy wheels, while at the back, it gets a similar tail-light design but there's a revised bumper with new inserts and blackened bits to keep things fresh. On the inside, apart from minor tweaks to the seat texture, there aren’t too many other changes.

Hyundai is expected to bring the new Verna to India in the next few months. And we expect it's the Russian-spec facelift and not the China model that'll be brought here, as historically, the Solaris sedan for Russia has essentially been the rebadged Verna from India, but in a left-hand-drive layout.

The Verna facelift for India will get more features and some added chrome, at least on the top-spec variant. There are talks of a fully digital instrument cluster too; this unit will be offered on the new i20 hatchback and most likely on the second-gen Creta as well.

Under the hood, the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift for India will come with BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engine options mated to either manual or automatic gearboxes. While the 1.5 diesel will come with a 6-speed torque converter gearbox, the 1.5 petrol will get a CVT as an option.

The new Hyundai Verna will see stiff competition from the next-gen Honda City that will be on sale soon in the Indian market. Additionally, it will also go up against the updated BS6-compliant Vento, Rapid, Ciaz and Yaris.
